ROX Player

With most media players, you will eventually encounter a rare and unsupported media format. Even for known formats, you may still need to install a few codecs. ROX Player allows you to play music and videos in almost any format, including HD videos. Simplicity is the player's main strength. You can simply load your files and play them right away, without worrying about any codecs or settings.

ROX Player is absolutely free and it can be used on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8. It can be installed in a few moments, without going through a complicated procedure. As previously suggested, you don't have to install any supplementary tools besides the player, like codecs or other services.

The user interface is laid out like that of any other lightweight player. Apart from its playback and volume controls and its top menus, there are no other options to interact with. You can load your media files through a standard Open dialog or by simply dragging and dropping them over the interface. Once loaded, video or audio tracks will start playing automatically. Besides local audio files, the player can also load and play media from URLs or torrents.

Despite ROX Player's simplicity, you can still find a series of useful controls through its top menus. While a media file is loaded, you can turn subtitles on and off, change the video's aspect ratio and switch between different audio tracks and devices. Additionally, you can increase and decrease the video's brightness, contrast, saturation and gamma and modify the color hue.
